Amazing Moms On The Internet

In my line of work (I teach private music lessons), I come across so many different types of parents. I really enjoy seeing the different methods of raising children that are out there. I read a lot of articles on the subject just because I do work with children and sometimes the stuff they talk about helps me in my teaching. There is nothing more I love to see than a mother that really is taking the time to be creative yet centered in the upbringing of their kids.

I wanted to use today’s post to celebrate some of the Moms on the internet that I’ve run across who I think are doing really amazing things, so here goes!

  1. Jaime Moore is a photographer located in Austin Texas – her daughter Emma recently turned 5. For her birthday photo session, she decided to have her daughter model as famous women who made differences in history, such as Helen Keller, Coco Chanel, and even Amelia Earhart! What a creative and unique way to teach your young child about people making a difference! I know Amelia Earhart was one of my childhood rolemodels, it’s nice to know that she’s still being talked about today.
  2. Farah L. Miller – She wrote this really interesting article about how family impacts children’s self worth, but I really thought it was amazing that she has made an active choice to be a positive rolemodel for her daughter, by avoiding saying things like “i’m fat” or “my hair is a mess” in front of her child. I think a lot of parents assume that children are not paying attention to them 24/7 but I know this is NOT the case – children are hyper aware of everything around them!
  3. Jeanne Sager – A while back I ran across this article where she asked her 7 year old daughter her opinion of certain outfits on Barbies. I think teaching children to think on their own from a young age is a great way to parent, and like this little girl, most kids will surprise you with their opinions of the world!DSC00428-300x225
  4. Not Your Average Mom I couldn’t find her name on the site, and maybe there’s a reason for that. This is by far, the FUNNIEST thing I’ve ever read in my life. Any Mom that can take the time to laugh at the ridiculous things children do-even when they’re as bad as spreading ashes from the fireplace all over the house – gets my vote. She would be an excellent example of keeping patient in the worst of situations.
